Expectations

Not all species are as iconic as a blue whale, a giant redwood or a dragonfly. It is important people realise this as they purchase an ecoconnection.

Many species are microscopic and most are quite difficult or inappropriate for a person to physically interact with. Many are parasites and pathogens. It is most likely that the species you ecoconnect with will be in a different part of the world from you.

Each species does however have a unique form, life cycle and ecology. These are interesting, each in their own right and as a part of the web of life.

If there is little known of your species you might like to speculate and extrapolate from closely related species. In this way you can become conscious of the things that could affect the population or even the existence of your species.

When you get ecoconnected perhaps a best first step would be to search the internet until you find a ‘fun fact’. This can be about your species or a closely related species. In this way you will always have a fun story to tell.

If you connect someone as a gift you might encourage the person to find their ‘fun fact’. Being given a name is an invitation to an interest in the species. We might, in future, provide opportunities to help with this interest. However please don’t expect this. We will do what we can as resources allow.
